The À La Plage prêt-à-porter collection VI.I.MMXXV
The inspiration for our spring collection always grows from the sense of renewal and the longing for sunshine that greets us as the wintertime comes to a close. We consider ourselves lucky to be able to experience a true winter, with snow coated streets and cozy blizzard-days-in. We are equally lucky to experience the feeling of excitement where underneath the crisp chill we begin to sense that spring is seeping its way back into the air. A soft undercurrent below the frost. Then, before you know it, the city it sundrenched again and it feels as though it has always been this way. Our spring collections draw on this unique sense of precipice: the possibility of seaside retreats by the newly thawed ocean, roadtrips with a suitcase packed full of dresses that you can finally wear again and lakeside adventures that leave you feeling nostalgic and content.
In that sense, nostalgia is truly the feeling that overarches our springtime collections, and that has always helped to inform the silhouettes and prints that we choose to include. Our Bardot print, a polka dot print on navy background, first made its debut in our quintessential silhouette, the Desirée dress, last summer. Originally having meant to be included in that spring's collection, its release had to be pushed later. However this print's essence is undeniably <<printanière>> so it made sense that its sister silhouettes, the Fae, and Ophelia dress crafted from the same cotton print fabric, would find their way to this season's spring collection.
The moodboard for this collection truly felt like the pages of a scrapbook or a vacation journal, whose pages are filled with memories and sunlit marginalia. An overblown polaroid, a sandy piece of seaglass, scraps of notes and drive-in movie tickets, ribbon ties and local seaside postcards, all preserved like shipwrecked treasures.
The pieces of the collection themselves are crafted from cotton; intricately embroidered eyelet, stretch navy polka dot, micro floral detailing and watercolor mini strawberry print, adding to our growing collection of breathable and wearble spring-summer pieces. Complete with features that make the dresses adjustable such as corset lace up backs and drawstring cups, while maintaining our signature romantic detailing through ribbon accents, vintage-inspired lace trims and eyelet fabrics, these encapsulate what our springtime reveries are made of.
